The common intention of this project is to facilitate tests of new concepts and full-scale programs related to autonomous vessels in Trondheimsfjorden and the surrounding coastal areas. The partners will share knowledge and experiences and contribute to the development of the test area.
The use of the test area presumes the operation to be within prevailing regulations, and that necessary communication and surveillance infrastructure is established.
Since 2016, several installations, technologies, resources, and services in the fjord has been set up. This equipment will be available for rent for use in projects for research, verification or demonstration purposes.
A request can be made by filling in the form a few scrolls down this page and sent to the administrator. Please be aware that certain tests might need formal approval from authorities, e.g. when testing communication technologies using frequencies that can interfere with technologies or with conventional users in the area.
For the test area we would also like to inform about tests that have been, or are under planning, in the area. Therefore, we would like each demonstration/project to give a description of the test.
Before you send in your request, please pay attention to the following:
- Permissions: Please be aware that notifications and permissions from authorities might be necessary. This can be approval or communication from authorities, from traffic authorities, with coastal administrations, with the port and so on.
- Resources: From the resource matrix there are listed resources that are available in the area. This can be vessels or drones to be used for testing of your technology, or it can be hire of a control room or office facilities if needed. The list indicates available sensors, communication or navigational technologies that are available or under progress.
- Data: From the area there are some data available that can be used when in a demonstration project. This can be statistical data on traffic, or sensor data from the area, the data can be used to verify test performance.
- Your test: From you we would like to know some more about your demonstration plan. First of all, we would like you to shortly describe your intention of using Trondheimsfjorden, then give us some more knowledge if you will be needing any resources or services from us.
